Privacy and using a Handle

By establishing the Handle system of electronic communication we have set out to protect your privacy. Specifically underlying e-mail accounts, telephone numbers and any postal addresses you may choose to add to your profile. The principle of using an alias or nickname (your Handle) provides you with a degree of anonymity that allows you to control where your e-mail or telephone calls are routed and not be limited or tied to specific e-mail addresses or telephone numbers in the future.

E-mail addresses are often used as a primary key to link your purchasing / browsing practices or personal interests allowing retailers / content providers to more accurately position products for you to purchase.

Instead of changing your work / home e-mail address you can simply register a Handle and effectively reset your browsing history and protect your privacy more effectively in the future.

We have set out our Global Privacy Standard (GPS) which we believe all ethical retailers, newsletters and content providers should be willing to recognize. By doing so they are indicating that they respect your personal freedoms and right to “Opt Out” of the more intrusive tracking and data sharing practices.

Global Privacy Standard (GPS)

We undertake to:

  1. Not share any of the information you supply with any third party. By this we mean your e-mail addresses, personal information or any other information you may use on your profile now or in the future.
  2. Not to contact you with any unsolicited communication.
  3. Request all major retailers, newsletter and content providers recognize that by using a Handle you are asking for them to respect your wishes and apply these rules when dealing with your account.

It is our determination to provide you with a secure and flexible communications method that can adapt to your future requirements. In doing so you can maintain contact with everyone you wish without having ever to publish changes in your personal details.
